Evolution of facelift procedure

It might come as a bit of surprise to you how many people in Auckland and around the world opt for facelift surgeries these days. Although this form of surgery has been around for decades, not many people used to go for it due to a variety of reasons including fear or doubts related to the effectiveness of the surgery and the outcomes. However, the surgery has undergone a lot of changes in the recent past, which in turn has made the surgery much more effective than ever before. In addition, the advancement in the surgery has also brought its cost down to a reasonable extent as well, which in turn has made it accessible to even the middle class, which certainly was not the case earlier.

A major reason behind the popularity of this surgical procedure can be accredited to the fact that the results of this surgery has improved to a great extent. There was a time when the procedure involved simply lifting of the facial skin from the sides so as to tighten it and remove fine lines and wrinkles. Although such procedures did provide some respite from wrinkles and other signs of aging, but the results were not at all natural. One could clearly see the lifted skin from the sides and facial features also got distorted, giving the person a terrible look. This is the reason why the surgery was not as popular and not as preferred as it is these days.

However, facelift procedures have undergone a complete makeover these days. Gone are the days when the scars of the surgery would remain clearly visible. The surgery is performed using a different technique these days which involves making small incisions around the hair line and below the jaw line. The skin is then pulled back from all angles and the excess skin is cut off. This sort of procedure not only provides a scar free look but also ensures that the patient gets a very natural look which is devoid of wrinkles and fine lines. In addition, the cost of the surgery has also gone down a few notches in the past few years, making it more accessible and affordable for people across the globe.
